我が家・平原（己斐）からの眺め
爆心から2.5㎞、広島市の西部、己斐。
背後には、平原城跡の残る小高い茶臼山。
それは鎌倉から戦国時代、己斐氏の居城だった。
70年前、この一帯は「平原」と言われ、
生家は瀬戸内海と市内を見渡せる海抜60mの高台にあり、
そこから「蛇抜」と呼ばれる谷が続いていた。
Our family lived in Koi, which is west of the City of Hiroshima and 2.5km from the center of the destruc-tive blast from the atomic bomb. Behind our home was a hill named Chausu-yama. In older times, this area was known as Hirabara. On this hill the Koi clan built and resided in the Hirabara Castle during the Kamakura period and through the Sengoku period, almost four hundred years. From our house we could see the Seto Inland Sea (Setonaikai) and Hiroshima. The valley of januki lay down the hill from our home.
