I didn’t know how much time had passed. The sky turned black before my eyes and it began to rain. Not the usual rain, but a black rain. It was pouring more and more heavily and the pit which was our shel-ter filled with black water like a swimming pool. It filled very quickly. This black water scared us even more.
Very soon, the ominous dark water was up to our waist, it was like we were soaking in the bath of black water. We stayed close together trembling with fear and shivering from the cold.
“It’s very dangerous here!” a disabled soldier from our neighborhood said after finding us. He helped us out of the pit. He directed us to another shelter built into the top of the hill. We rushed to it.
